Rooted in care, guided by heart

I’m Nicole van Wyk, a Postnatal Support Network–trained doula serving families in Belgium. For more than a decade, I worked in childcare, witnessing up close the tender dance of family life: the needs, the rhythms, the joys, and the challenges. Again and again, one truth stood out: mothers are often overlooked as individuals in the fragile weeks after birth.

That realisation led me to my true calling: mothering the mother.

Mothering the Mother

The weeks after birth are not only about welcoming a child, they are also about welcoming a new version of yourself. My practice honours the sacred 40 days, a time of healing, bonding, and gentle transition.

Through four intertwined pillars of care, I help families rest, recover, and find confidence in their new rhythm:

Emotional: attentive listening, reassurance, and normalising the ups and downs

Practical: nourishing meals, light household resets, and baby care basics

Mental: clear, kind information to build confidence

Physical: comfort measures that honour and support recovery

How I Support You

Each family’s path is unique, and my care is flexible, respectful, and collaborative. With me, you can expect:

  • Gentle feeding support (breast/chest, bottle, pumping, or combination)

  • Newborn soothing and babywearing basics

  • Sleep sanctuary setup to protect your rest

  • Optional traditions and rituals, including belly binding, sitz bath or yoni steam guidance (where safe), and relaxation massage

I work alongside your clinical team, midwives, IBCLCs, GPs, and pelvic-health physios—and will always signpost when specialist support is best for you. Visits are typically 2–3 hours by day, with optional overnights during the first two weeks for deeper rest.

My Promise

I bring steady hands, warm food, calm presence, and evidence-informed guidance into your home. Whether you are a first-time parent, welcoming multiples, recovering from a caesarean, or growing your family through adoption or surrogacy, my role is to hold you, so you can hold your baby.

Because however your journey looks, you don’t walk it alone.
